No Cost Virtual Doctor Visits for MISD Employees

Dear MISD Employee,

With the topic of virtual doctor visits in the news recently, the District would like to remind employees enrolled in a Mercedes ISD sponsored health plan that virtual visits are currently provided at no cost

In order to set yourself up please see steps below (process takes 10-15 minutes):

  • Download the UHC app from your phone’s app store (UnitedHealthcare).

  • Once downloaded, open the app and create a new account (if you have not created one already)

    • Scanning your MISD health insurance card speeds up the process

    • If you don’t have your card available, the MISD Group ID number is 911690

  • Under the ‘Urgent’ tab click the virtual visits link and follow the prompts.

    • Clicking get started get you started on UHC’s provided virtual visit

    • Selecting ‘View providers’ gives you a list of providers and will send you to the app store to download that providers app (i.e. Teladoc, Doctor on Demand and Amwell).

Please note that all providers are free of cost to Mercedes ISD insurance subscribed employees and their covered dependents. You may be prompted to enter your credit card/debit card info. This is for those employees that wish to utilize the psychiatric/mental health services provided through the selected provider. Please note, co-pay and deductibles apply for psychiatric/mental health services.

Based on CDC recommendations, please utilize this free service if you have flu-like symptoms. Upon starting your virtual visit you will be asked questions about your symptoms that will provide the doctor an assessment of your condition. They will provide guidance as to how to proceed with managing your symptoms going forward.

***CDC recommends utilizing this service as a first-step in diagnosing your condition. This will help stop the possible spread of contagious diseases. If you are experiencing shortness of breath, high fever or difficulty breathing. If you believe you are having a medical emergency, use your judgement and call 911.***

Please review the attached flyers for additional information about this benefit for Mercedes ISD insurance subscribed employees and their dependents.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Ralph Mendez
