Mercedes ISD is proud to announce Dr. Mauro Tijerina III as the new principal of Sgt. Manuel Chacon Middle School.
Beginning this fall, Sgt. Chacon Middle School will be part of Mercedes ISD’s Elevated Middle School model, which focuses on rigorous academics, strong athletic and fine arts programs, and college and career readiness.
Dr. Tijerina brings a deep passion for public education and a strong academic background in public finance and educational leadership. He has also completed advanced leadership training at the prestigious Harvard Leadership Institute, where he learned from renowned experts and collaborated with international peers—an experience that broadened his vision for effective school leadership. He has most recently served as principal of Sgt. William G. Harrell Middle School.
