Armando Martinez

Mercedes ISD is proud to announce that Mr. Armando E. Martinez has been named principal for the Mercedes Early College Academy.

Mr. Martinez is a dedicated educator with deep roots in the Mercedes ISD community. He began his journey in education as a classroom teacher at Mercedes Junior High School and Mercedes High School. He went on to serve as a guidance counselor at the Mercedes Academic Academy and Mercedes High School, supporting students in their academic and personal growth. Mr. Martinez later took on administrative roles as assistant principal at Mercedes High School, Sgt. Manuel Chacon Middle School, and Mercedes Early College Academy. Most recently, he served as principal of Sgt. Manuel Chacon Middle School.

With each step, Mr. Martinez has remained committed to academic excellence, student opportunity, and community values. Now returning to MECA as principal, he brings experience, vision, and a deep understanding of what makes this campus special.

“As principal of Mercedes Early College Academy, I humbly step into this role with deep respect for the strong academic tradition and high standards that have long defined MECA,” Martinez said. “It is a privilege to join a school community that is rooted in excellence and committed to student success. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, students, and families as we continue building on MECA’s proud legacy.”
