Mrs. Beatriz Perez named Principal at W.B. Travis Elementary

Mercedes ISD is proud to announce Mrs. Beatriz A. Perez as the new Principal of W.B. Travis Elementary School.

A dedicated educator and leader, Mrs. Perez brings extensive experience, a passion for student success, and a strong commitment to serving the students, staff, and families of W.B. Travis Elementary.

Mrs. Perez has dedicated more than 16 years to education, joining Mercedes ISD as a student teacher at Zachary Taylor Elementary and spending six years as a teacher at John F. Kennedy Elementary. She later served as a Bilingual/ESL Strategist and, most recently, as Assistant Principal at Mercedes High School.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Bilingual Education Specialization, a Master's degree in Bilingual Education with a Dual Language Specialization, and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership with Principal Certification from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She also holds Texas Principal Certification and Advanced Educational Leadership certification.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Perez has remained committed to fostering academic excellence, supporting high-quality instruction, and building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families. Her experience in instructional leadership, bilingual education, and student support services has equipped her with the skills necessary to lead and support a diverse learning community.

As principal of W.B. Travis Elementary, Mrs. Perez looks forward to working collaboratively with staff, parents, and community members to build upon the campus's strong foundation, support student achievement, and ensure that every child is provided with the opportunities and resources needed to thrive.
