MERCEDES, TEXASโ Mercedes Independent School District is proud to announce that W.B. Travis Elementary has been selected by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to host the Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory from October 27โ30, 2026.
The mobile laboratory provides students with an opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through interactive, hands-on learning experiences designed to encourage creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
During the visit, Travis Elementary students will participate in STEM challenges that encourage them to brainstorm ideas, develop solutions, and test prototypes. The activities are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and designed to support classroom instruction.
In addition to student learning opportunities, Travis Elementary teachers will have the opportunity to observe STEM instructors facilitating engineering design challenges and explore strategies for incorporating similar activities into their classrooms.
The Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory program is a state-funded initiative offered at no cost to participating schools and implemented in partnership with Learning Undefeated.
Mercedes ISD remains committed to providing engaging, innovative educational experiences that inspire curiosity, strengthen academic skills, and prepare students for future opportunities.
