October is Dyslexia Awareness Month, and today Mercedes ISD was joined by parents for two insightful presentations by Michelle Guerra, Section 504/RtI/Dyslexia coordinator, and dyslexia teachers. The team led the sessions in both English and Spanish at the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Library.
Staff shared key information, including the causes and symptoms of dyslexia, the importance of phonological awareness, how dyslexia can impact reading, writing and spelling, and, most importantly, how parents can support and advocate for their student. Thank you to everyone who joined us. #MISDpride #MISDdrive #MISDsuccess
