Suicide is a serious public health problem. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a person commits suicide every 11 minutes in the United States, making it a leading cause of death in this country โ especially among teens and young adults. September is Suicide Prevention Month and students across the district (Travis Elementary, Sgt. Harrell MS, Sgt. Chacon MS, Mercedes Early College Academy and Mercedes Academic Academy) participated in South Texas Health System Behavioral Chalk the Walk. Their goal was to write words of hope and inspiration for all who come to their campus. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a counselor or dial the suicide hotline at 988. #sthschalkthewalk
