Fueling Dreams at an Early Age! 🚀🌟 Third grade students in the Gifted and Talented program from all four elementary schools, Travis, Taylor, Hinojosa, and JFK, embarked on an engaging field trip to the Texas State Technical College Challenger Learning Center last week. Through immersive STEM activities, these young minds experienced the wonders of science and technology, setting the stage for future college and career readiness. UIL Sweepstakes win for the Mercedes Tiger Wind Ensemble! 👏🎶🏆 The Wind Ensemble celebrated a perfect score of straight 1s from judges at this week’s UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluations. The ensemble is under the proud direction of Mr. Guy McKinney. 📚✨ National Reading Month is all about embracing the joy of reading and highlighting the importance of literacy. Taylor Elementary Librarian Lynda Garza extended an invitation to Mercedes High School student leaders to participate in Taylor Elementary's Third Annual National Reading Month celebration. MHS RGV LEAD Ambassadors and FFA members provided a unique opportunity for Taylor students to see the real-world application of reading and writing skills, as well as expose them to new books and authors. FLASHBACK FRIDAY 📸🐅 Thank you to the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show for hosting another wonderful and enriching Special Kids Rodeo Day earlier this month! This hands-on day offered our Mercedes students the unique opportunity to learn more about the world of agricultural science and rodeo, and get up close with some friendly farm animals. It was a day filled with fun and learning.
