Parents from MECA and MHS had the opportunity to join their students at a family literacy event hosted by Region One GEAR UP today at the Mission Event Center.
The “Nuestra Historia Sigue” event was an opportunity for our parents and students to learn about the importance of literacy and hear published stories from UTRGV professors and RGV writers, along with renowned author Sandra Cisneros.

Julio Leon won First Place🥇 with his captivating short story “Soul Bound,” earning a $100 cash prize and Charline Gonzalez earned Third Place🥉 with her tale, winning a $50 cash prize.
